Important Information regarding IMEI in branded/china mobile phones
All GSM or CDMA mobiles have a unique IMEI
number ( International Mobile Equipment Identity) Number. You
can know yours by pressing *#06# on your mobile.
Now the problem starts when certain low end mobile manufacturers
, make consignments of mobiles under a single
IMEI.(these mobiles are manufactured
for third world countries such as Africa)
This technical loophole is taken as opportunity by
terrorists/anti-social elements who make threat calls to
citizens/ police/media. The Indian government is not able to
trace such calls as, there are lot of mobiles with same
IMEI ( hence it is actually a
problem of tracing the original criminals).

What if you get an SMS from Service provider or DOT about Handset having Fake IMEI ??
